  Silvia Jimenez Leeper

Ms. Leeper graduated with honors from Florida International University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Ms. Leeper attended Stetson University College of Law where she graduated in 1989. While at Stetson, Ms. Leeper served as President of the Spanish American Law Student Association. She was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1989.

Ms. Leeper began her career practicing insurance defense work with Sawyer and Pilka in Tampa. In 1990, she became clerk to Judge Jack Schoonover of the Second District Court of Appeal. After serving a two year term, Ms. Leeper returned to private practice at Gulfcoast Legal Services where she began her emphasis on Family Law matters, representing victims of domestic violence. During her five years with Gulfcoast, Ms. Leeper came to lead the Family Law Unit. In 1997, Ms. Leeper opened her own practice and was joined two years later by her husband, Dan, to form Leeper & Leeper. Ms. Leeper continues to primarily handle Family and Marital Law matters while Mr. Leeper handles Personal Injury and Insurance Law cases.

Both Silvia and Dan are very active in the St. Petersburg community. Silvia volunteers with Lawyers of Literacy and at the Community Law Program. She founded the Muses for the Arts at the Canterbury School of Florida, (an Arts education booster group,) and served as the team parent for the varsity cheerleaders. She currently serves on the conference Executive Board for her church’s denomination. She has volunteered with the Youth Ministry, and chaired the Youth Pastor search committee for the church. In addition, Silvia previously served on the Board of CASA, the local spouse abuse/prevention organization and shelter, and volunteered at Academy Prep in St. Petersburg. Silvia has also taught at Stetson University College of Law and mentored less experienced attorneys during their initial years of practice.

Dan and Silvia reside in St. Petersburg. Their two children attend college.

Mr. Leeper graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. His major emphasis of study was history, with minors in Political Science and Education. Mr. Leeper attended Stetson University College of Law where he graduated cum laude in 1990. While at Stetson, Mr. Leeper served on the Moot Court Board, worked as a Teaching Fellow for Research and Writing, and was a Public Service Fellow. He was admitted to the Florida Bar that year and began his career in civil trial practice.

During his career, Mr. Leeper has worked with Beltz and Ruth, a St. Petersburg firm handling various civil injury claims and Abrahamson & Kennedy, a Clearwater firm specializing in injury claims. In between those firms, Mr. Leeper worked with Howard Weber handling insurance defense matters. In 1999, he formed Leeper & Leeper with his partner and wife, Silvia Jimenez Leeper. Mr. Leeper continues to primarily handle personal injury and insurance matters while Ms. Leeper handles mainly family and marital law matters. He has handled thousands of civil injury claims and tried dozens of cases.

Both Dan and Silvia are very active in the St. Petersburg community. Dan serves on the governing Council of his church where he is currently the chair. Dan also volunteers with Lawyers for Literacy and the Children’s ministry at his church, (where he teaches Sunday school.) Dan also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Great Explorations Children’s Museum in St. Petersburg and, along with Silvia, chaired the Museum’s annual fund-raiser in 2012.

Dan and Silvia reside in St. Petersburg. Their two children attend college.
